Code of Conduct
Birkbeck promotes a respectful, diverse and inclusive culture which makes everyone feel heard and accepted. In all that we do, we strive to ensure that all alumni feel respected and valued. We want each member of our alumni community to be able to benefit from using the official alumni channels to find useful and helpful information and resources. At the same time, we hope that the information made available through these channels will incentivize and empower Birkbeck alumni to play an active role in the institution’s continued success.
We have set up the following rules and expectations from members of our alumni community who wish to use the dedicated LinkedIn Birkbeck Alumni Network:
Members will:
- Comply with all applicable laws (e.g. privacy laws, intellectual property laws, anti-spam laws, etc.)
- Only share information which, to their knowledge, is accurate and trustworthy
- Use the channel in a professional manner
- Abide by LinkedIn’s Professional Community Policies.
Members will not:
- Share content which is not directly relevant to Birkbeck and its alumni community
- Disseminate harmful or hateful content
- Develop, support or use software, devices, scripts, robots, or any other means or processes (including crawlers, browser plugins and add-ons, or any other technology) to compromise the service or copy profiles and other data from the channel
- Copy, use, disclose or distribute any information obtained through the channel without seeking the author’s prior consent
- Disclose information that they do not have the consent to disclose, notably including confidential information
- Violate the intellectual property rights of others (e.g. copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, etc.)
- Create a false identity on LinkedIn
- Post anything that contains software viruses, worms or any other harmful code
- Use the channel to rent, lease, loan, trade, sell/re-sell property or goods
- Use the channel for political canvassing
- Falsely imply or state that you are affiliated with or endorsed by Birkbeck, University of London
- Monitor the channel’s performance or functionality for any commercial or competitive purpose or in any other way monetize the service which this group offers.

Birkbeck reserves the right to delete any content which violates the above Code of Conduct, and to block or remove from the group anyone who does not observe the above rules.
